Boat CAD is specialized small CAD system for boats. It is very easy to create blueprints for boat. Just for few minutes. There are 2 main wizards. One with parametric curves and another with NURBS curves. The section of the boat can be U-shape. Here the section is generated/calculated as curve from the top left board line to the top right board line through the keel. Can be also V-shape. Here the section is generated/calculated as 2 symmetric curves from the top board line to the keel. The Stern can be also U-shape, V-shape or Double ender boat. When You start a new blueprint it is only needed to add boat length. Next will be created a basic boat, you can ajust other sizes and shapes.

With this wizard you can create yacht, sail boat or speed boat. All curves are NURBS.

With this wizard you can create a small fisher boat, sail boat, also plywood boat. It uses parametric curves. It is very simplified, but still can have a nice boat shape.
All contemporary CAD systems are using NURBS curves, BoatCAD also. But BoatCAD can use also the old style parametric curves.
This boat uses parametric curves. Here the red lines, not the purple, simulate a stick and the blue line is bent on it.
So it simulates wood bending very close to the real. Of course there is coefficient which define the flexibility of the blue line.
It varies from 0 to 1. Best is between 0.4 - 0.6, the default is 0.5 .
Long time in the past hundreds even thousands years mаny boats are built without blueprint, from people doing this the whole life.
